The closest major trekking region to Kathmandu, Langtang offers spectacular mountain scenery, Tamang culture, and pristine wilderness without the crowds.
The Langtang region, often called the 'Valley of Glaciers', is one of Nepal's most accessible yet least crowded trekking destinations. Just a day's drive from Kathmandu, the region was severely affected by the 2015 earthquake but has been beautifully rebuilt, with the resilient Tamang communities welcoming trekkers with open arms. The highlight is the Langtang Valley itself, a glacial valley surrounded by 7,000m+ peaks, Buddhist monasteries, and a famous yak cheese factory at Kyanjin Gompa.
